The most common question I get now days is exactly what is archaeology and why it is important.
Archaeology is a subfield of anthropology, anthropology is the study of all human culture, but archaeology focuses on how humans lived in the past. Archaeologist would be the ones to research pyramids, or discover who built the Sphinx. Archaeologists are commonly confused with paleontologists, those who study fossils. The main stigma is that anthropologists, archaeologists, and paleontologists are all the same, but that misconception is extremely false. Most archaeologists work in Cultural Resource Management, CRM, but some are lucky enough to get a job in a museum, or become a professor at a university.
