Beating Writer’s Block

Everyone who knows how to write, has experience the dreaded writers block. So how do you defeat writer’s block? Today we are going to give you a few simple steps to getting back your creative side.

  1.  Go for a walk. Simply stepping away from your computer for a moment, and getting your blood flowing, is really helpful for getting out of a creative rut.
  2. Use the Pomodoro Technique. Commonly used in studying, this technique calls for working for 25 minutes on a specific task, then taking a 5 minute break. You can switch up the time to fit your working style, or use the original times.
  3. Take your mind off of the project at hand. Attempting to focus on a project for hours on end will most likely end up with you falling asleep at your desk with a half-completed assignment. Take a break and reward yourself. You can even visit the site writtenkitten.net , where you can set a certain amount of words, say 100, and once you reach that amount you are rewarded with a cute picture of your choice of puppies, kittens, or bunnies! It’s sure to lighten up your bleak cubicle.

If you are still having trouble, you can visit Thomas Frank’s blog CollegeInfoGeek, or his YouTube channel Thomas Frank for other effective tips to being a productive person.
